Importing WooCommerce Sample Data
If you are starting with an empty shop — no products, orders, reviews — then you can get started creating your own products and setting up your shop exactly as you need.
However, maybe you’d like to see what a store full of sample orders and products looks like. If so, we’ve got some data for you to see what a working shop looks like.
Sample data for your WooCommerce shop is located in a file called either sample-products.csv or sample-products.xml, which is located in your shop installation.
Installing WooCommerce Sample Data
No matter how you get the file, it’s time to upload!
WordPress Importer
From the WordPress Dashboard:
- Go to: Tools > Import.
- Select WordPress
- Run Importer.
- Select Choose file and then select the sample-products.xml file you downloaded.
- Upload file and import.
- Import our default wooteam author, create a new user, or assign the posts to an existing user. This is your call to make, though we recommend assigning the posts to an existing user.
- Tick or untick the box for Download and import file attachments. This imports all sample product images to your site if ticked.
- Submit and your sample data is imported.
WooCommerce Products CSV
From the WordPress Dashboard:
- Go to: Tools > Import.
- Select WooCommerce Products CSV
- Run Importer. An Import Products screen appears.
- Select Choose file and then select the sample-products.csv file you downloaded.
- Continue. A Column Mapping screen appears.
- Scroll down and Run the Importer.
You now have sample data in WooCommerce to learn from.
